Yesterday, the 2015 Awards of Excellence in Corporate Reporting were presented to the nominees who entered in each category. These awards are presented annually by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). We are very proud to note that that four?of our respected clients?Canadian Tire, Goldcorp Inc., Agrium, and Eldorado Gold, were given awards and honourable mentions across different categories.

Each year, CPA Canada acknowledges the integral role of high quality reporting – and this year?s most prestigious honour, the Overall Award of Excellence in Corporate Reporting, went to Goldcorp Inc.

In addition to achieving the Overall Award of Excellence in Corporate Reporting, Goldcorp Inc. was also categorized as the industry winner in the Mining category, and received the Award of Excellence in Sustainability Reporting.

?Adding Goldcorp to the list of top corporate reporters in Canada demonstrates what can be achieved with a commitment to excellence,? said Kevin Dancey, president and CEO at CPA Canada. ?Goldcorp performed well in all judging categories but was particularly strong with its sustainability reporting. The company integrated relevant aspects of environmental, economic, social, and governance of information with its financial reporting resulting in a thorough picture of how it creates long-term value,? Kevin added.

Other valued Q4 clients were awarded and received honourable mentions throughout the gala event last night – Agrium received the Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Award of Excellence in Electronic Disclosure. While Canadian Tire was recognized as industry winner in the Consumer Products and Services category.

Moreover,?Eldorado Gold received an honourable mention for the Award of Excellence in Electronic Disclosure. The Electronic Disclosure category looks at how a public company presents its materials online via their website and social media platforms.

The main objective behind CPA?s award program is to raise the bar when it comes to corporate reporting practices in Canada. Every participant in the program receives a confidential assessment regarding their reporting materials, which aims to motivate improvements every year.

We would like to extend our congratulations to all four?of our clients who were recognized during yesterday?s event!
